Genna Durante, Ph.D
Psychologist. Parent Coach. Mom.
Hello, and welcome! My name is Genna, and I am a licensed psychologist in Washington state and Vermont. I began my career as a child therapist, working with kids of all ages and supporting them through a range of social-emotional and behavioral challenges. As time went on, I realized the importance of supporting parents, both for the wellbeing of the parent and the child. Additional training, reflection, and research led to the birth of my new practice, Mindfulnest Parenting. I founded Mindfulnest with the belief that being mindful, curious, and honest about our parenting is the path to building a healthy home, raising healthy, resilient kids and reclaiming identity in this new chapter of life. I would be honored to work with you and meet you on your parenting journey!
Why Focus on Parenting?
Parenting for Change
When our kid is struggling, parenting can feel especially tough. However, we can support positive growth and change for our little ones by developing our own skills to be a confident, compassionate and sturdy to guide when our kids need it most.
Parenting for Prevention
A parent’s actions and inactions send the child messages about themselves, relationships, and the world. I believe that mindful and intentional parenting is one of the key ingredients in reducing rates of mental health problems in our young people today.
Parenting for Generational Shift
The conscious choice to parent differently from the way we were parented can change the shame, guilt, and trauma cycles for generations to come. All it takes is one parent brave enough to say no and willing to do the hard work to choose a different path.
